London-based label Camille 3000 is proud to announce the new release ‘Piccioni in Orbit’, out on February 25^th. For the first time on vinyl, ‘Piccioni in Orbit’ is a journey on Piero Piccioni’s “space music” . The 14 tracks of the LP are all composed, arranged and conducted by Piero Piccioni; some of them were never released on vinyl before and come directly from Piccioni’s archive and original master tapes.

Piero Piccioni has determined Italian Jazz on the compositional level, starting from a unique harmonic construction, whose melodic identification is pure resonance. He was among the very few to have paved the way for the Italian Bossa Nova. More than any other, he was the most prominent figure in European space-age music, the last smoke of romanticism, which originated in 1947 America through Les Baxter, Harry Revel and the thereminist Dr Samuel Hoffman.

Piero Piccioni scored and composed this soundtrack for the homonymous Italian TV show aired in 1961, for which he arranged and composed a refined jazz theme. The original Ampex of the show went lost at the time when RAI archive caught on fire, luckily Piccioni jealously guarded his original master tapes.

Today, Camille 3000 is proud to present this long-awaited release, thanks to its restoration by Jason Piccioni and Giuliano Radiciotti. Previously unreleased, this first-ever issue for “Volubile” includes 15 tracks on 180gr. vinyl and liner notes by showgirl Gloria Paul.
